Born in Hendersonville, NC, Pat became consumed with being a guitar player at an early age. His father made him his first guitar, at the age of 3, from a Prince Albert cigar box, a broom handle for a neck, fishing line for strings, and a piece of endless belt for a strap. Each day spent in front of the TV watching The Arthur Smith Show, broadcasted from Charlotte, NC, only reinforced that dream to be a guitar player one day. As a teenager Pat began to play professionally and by the age of 19 had already recorded on five #1 hits with major artists in the R&B/ Pop fields such as Jerry Butler and Al Wilson. Attending North Texas State University to study jazz, arranging, and composition netted him even more experience as a working musician where he had the opportunity to appear with the Buddy Rich Orchestra, the Les and Larry Elgart Orchestras, as well as many top-name musical groups, road shows, and artists. After returning to his hometown, Pat became a co-owner of a music store where he launched The Southern School Of Music. There he taught various instruments and class studies in music theory, arranging, and improvisation. Soon the call came to Nashville to work with a top artist. Moving to Nashville, Pat worked for many years in concert and recording studio settings, eventually becoming the praise and worship director for a 1200 member fellowship in the Nashville area while still working in the studio scene. Sensing a call back to the mountains in 1994, Pat, wife Monica, and daughters Amber and Ashley, moved to the Great Smoky Mountains in the Sevierville, TN area to “retire” from the music business. Not a chance for that, as their involvement in their local church brought many requests for Pat to resume teaching and sharing his musical expertise. Pat is proud to be associated with The Music Outlet and it's fine family of owners, in Sevierville, TN,  where he teaches Monday thru Saturday.
