We played a jazz
arrangement of “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” in the first segment and in the
second segment we played “Shelter Of The Most High”, a song I wrote for my
worship team some time ago. It is based on Psalm 91. It’s very funky and easy to
learn. When the program went off the air, soundman Grant Kennedy (below) came up
to me and said, “I can’t believe what just happened”. He said that, “never
before in history of the BT program had the entire staff come to a dead stop to
listen to an artist and hear an interview, but it happened today!” He was very
excited. When he brought me the forms to sign for the song’s royalty payments,
he noticed that I had written the second number and commented that would be
beneficial. I asked why and it was then that we found out that Breakfast
Television is not just a local program. It is beamed to three satellites and
covers Canada coast to coast!!! It is the equivalent of Good Morning America
here in the States!! Canada heard about our mission and the good news of Jesus
Christ!!!

Grant Kennedy gives us the news
Canada really hears THE good news
Shortly, after the BT experience, Dean and I went to Halifax Centre, the largest mall, to adjust his luggage that was obliterated by Air Canada on the trip up there. A woman came running down the parking garage screaming. We thought she needed some help but she shouted, “I just saw you guys on BT! I loved the up-tempo Christian music! I’ll be there at that church next week for sure! And reports have it, she was. While in the mall we went to exchange currency and the two tellers at The Royal Bank who assisted us came to LHCC that following Sunday also.
We certainly had a fast start with BT. It provided great credibility as we networked during the week with musicians, sound techs, music store personnel, as well as folks in general. The program was seen by so many that Living Hope Community Church received a huge boost in name recognition. Below is what 5:30am in Nova Scotia looks like! Whew! Those times zones!!
